AUDITIONS
Auditions were held @ core studios ,kubwa-Abuja on the 22nd and 23rd of august 2014, with lots of greatly talented singers trooping in with their various forms of delivery, hence decision making for the judges was challenging. Eventually, the judges selected 12 final contestants namely; CHARLES RICHARD,AMAZING GRACE,AGAGA PRAISE,MICHEAL MAIGIZOH,DRUZILLA EZEH GLORIA,FAITH IDAKWO,PEACE INJI,CHIPURIUME IFEACHOR,OHAMARA CHIZUBE ,ANDREW ESSIEN also with ONYINYE IJEH and WINNER KELVINS who or 15 and 14 yrs respectively.
For five days, these EXCEPTIONAL TWELVE, were drilled, trained and instructed by various teachers namely ; ROLAND RICKETTS(Gospel/Inspirational Artiste and Music Director ), Doktor REX(Music Producer), MR WINIFRED(CEO MINDS MUSIC ACADEMY) AND OZOR OPARA(Worship leader) for not just the grand finale but their respective Music Careers.
THE GRAND FINALE
It was a glorious event held at the SOLID ROCK AUDITHORIUM, Kubwa-Abuja on the 30th of August, as the finalists were in anticipation and excitement, waiting to deliver in God’s presence. Interestingly for these ones, it didn’t feel like a competition anymore. They just wanted to express themselves to God through their gifts and in return, get people blessed.
The auditorium was packed full with people from all works of life, pastors, bishops, music minds, fun seekers, supporters and well wishers of the finalists. Anchored by MC PRAISE, they were not disappointed as the finalists took to the stage with their various renditions.
All that took to the stage impressed but there was this one performance that got the judges and everyone to their feet and Some into tears. It was PEACE INJI’S rendition of Nathaniel Bassey’s BOOK OF LIFE. With excellent vocals and holding back nothing on expression, PEACE delivered this song in a way I have never seen before.
Another notable performance was the rendition of Vashawn Michele’s NOBODY GREATER BY 14 year old WINNER KELVINS. The only thing that looked his age on that stage was his frame. God!!! This dude ministered like a matured pro and the audience gave glory to God for such young talent.
We were also treated to a guest performance by JAY R (PASTOR ISAIAH AMAGA) who tore the place apart with some holy ghost filled hip pop. We all took to the dance floor.
Notable personalities i.e Bishop Zaka Bonet( General Overseer Solid Rock International), Dr C.I. Ricketts( father of the CEO Koledaru Concepts, ROLAND), Mr Jakada(MD SYNOM CONSULTING) were all present.
Glory to God, “THE MINSTREL” SEASON 1 was a success. People had different reports. Some were blessed, some thrilled, others healed and some entertained too. The beauty of all this is that it all happened in God’s Presence.
PEACE INJI emerged winner of “ THE MINSTREL” SEASON ONE, CHIPURUIME IFEACHOR AND MICHEAL MAIGHIZO came 2nd and 3rd respectively. Congrats to them.
“THE MINSTREL” SEASON TWO would sure be greater.
